Baton makes its way through Caribbean

20 March 2002

Sherone Simpson

Sherone Simpson carries the Baton into Manchester High School

After leaving the shores of Canada behind the Baton Relay has spent the last three days traversing Jamaica and is now set to move on once more.

During its stay in Jamaica the Baton has been visiting many local schools, including those in the parish of Manchester! All the children were excited at the prospect of seeing the famous Baton with everybody keen to hold it.

A stop at the British High Commission also saw the Baton presented to Governer General Sir Howard Cooke at King's House.

The next leg sees the Baton move on to Barbados.
