Magnificent City of Manchester Stadium in line for top award

The City of Manchester Stadium is in the running for a top award that could see the home of the Commonwealth Games strike gold.

The British Construction Industry Awards (BCI) has short-listed the stadium for this year's major project category for schemes costing more than £50m.

A panel of judges selected the Manchester stadium from a list of more than 160 schemes.

They will visit all the buildings short-listed before selecting the winners, who will be announced at a gala dinner at the London Hilton in October.
