Albert Square will host the party

The Queen’s Jubilee Baton Relay’s journey is nearly over. Having traversed the globe on its epic trip Day 49 (Wednesday) of the Relay will see it arrive in the host City of the XVII Commonwealth Games for the first time.

Setting off from Rochdale by boat at dawn the route will pass through Middleton, Ashton-under-Lyne and Droylsden before arriving in the city just after five. The Baton will then make it’s way to the huge Evening Celebration to be held in Albert Square.

The Baton will be carried by a number of celebrities including footballers Ryan Giggs and Stuart Pearce as well as the stars of Coronation Street, so come along and cheer the Runners along as they make their way to the party.
