Celebrate the Games with the rest of the world
The XVII Commonwealth Games will be the biggest multi-sport event ever held in the United Kingdom - and it’s happening right here on our doorstep.
From 25 July to 4 August, Manchester and the surrounding area will be an extraordinary place... so, inevitably, ordinary life will be slightly different while this once-in-a-lifetime event takes place.
Manchester and Salford, in particular, will be much busier than usual with some roads temporarily closed for short periods to make way for the hundreds of athletes striving for Commonwealth gold, and the thousands of spectators eager to catch a glimpse of their favourite sporting stars.
There will be some disruption for people who live and work in these areas but, by keeping up-to-date with the latest information and adapting your normal travel routine, this should be manageable. And, don’t forget, extra visitors to the area mean extra opportunities for local businesses!
So please use the links on the right hand side of this page which will tell you what to expect at certain times in particular areas of Manchester.
It’s your Games - keep informed, plan ahead and, above all, take pride in playing your part in our region’s greatest success.
We hope you enjoy your Games experience.
