Commonwealth Games Village

The University of Manchester’s Fallowfield campus will be transformed into the Commonwealth Games Village - the athletes’ home for the duration of the Games - between 10 July and 7 August.

The main routes into the Village will be via Moseley Road and Birchfields Road, so there will be increased traffic and vehicles queuing to enter the site.

Residents and businesses should be aware that Wilmslow Road, Moseley Road and Birchfields Road will be busier than usual.

Businesses and residents are advised to allow extra time for their journeys during the period the Village is in operation.

Parking restrictions

Some parking restrictions, including suspension of parking bays, will be in place and strictly enforced on Moseley Road. This is to improve access to the Village. There will also be restricted parking along Old Hall Lane to the entrance of the Grammar School.

The athletes will enter the Village in vehicles which have been security cleared and these will park in secure areas, not on the local streets.

Vehicle passes

These will be issued to residents of Old Hall Lane, Whitworth Lane and Redshaw Close in June and early July.
