The Queen’s Jubilee Baton Relay Runners
Who will carry the Baton?
The Baton will be carried by 5,000 individuals throughout the UK, with each Runner carrying the Baton up to 500 yards. Included in the 5,000 will be athletes, community representatives, celebrities and a wide cross section of people from all walks of life.
What is a Jubilee Runner?
A Jubilee Runner is a person selected by the community to carry the Baton. A Jubilee Runner is someone who has made a special contribution to their community, improved the lives of others or achieved a personal goal against the odds.
How were Jubilee Runners selected?
By writing in 80 words or less on an official nomination form, you were able to nominate yourself or a friend, relative or someone from your community to be a Jubilee Runner. The judging of the Jubilee Runners was conducted by a panel of judges under the supervision of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award on 12/13 January 2002. All Relay Runners have been notified of their selection.
