Manchester 2002 park & walk

Parking for Sportcity

Sportcity is the location of four major Games venues; the City of Manchester Stadium, the National Squash Centre, the National Cycling Centre and the Table Tennis Centre; and will draw thousands of people from far and wide during the Games period.

It is important to note that there is no parking available at Sportcity, however in addition to the large park and ride sites there are eight park and walk sites located approximately 1 kilometre away from the venues.

The park & walk sites cost 5 to use and offer secure parking. To minimise queuing times drivers are asked to have the correct money ready at the entrance.

Each of the park & walk sites will be signposted along the major roads around the area. Routes to the park & walk sites will be very busy, so users are being urged to allow extra time to reach them.

Choosing a park & walk site

Before choosing to use a park & walk site you are recommended to consider the option of park and ride which will offer less congested access and making your journey by public transport - services from across the region have increased frequencies and running times.

Important information

It's essential to arrive early - at least two hours before start of sessions at the City of Manchester Stadium and one hour before start of sessions at all other venues. You will also need to build in the walking times from your chosen car park to your venue.

Wear comfortable clothes and shoes - you will be walking quite long distances. Bring one small bag (no bigger than 30cm x 25cm x 15cm (12" x 10" x 6")) for essentials. Leave coolbags and other large items at home as there are no cloakroom facilities at venues. Be prepared for changeable weather conditions - bring suitable clothing for walking to and from venues.
