Recent competitions
Hey there. Welcome back to my diary. It's a pretty busy time for me this week because at the moment I am in the middle of our competition season with it starting a little earlier due to the European Championships held at the end of April.
I recently competed in the British Team Championships with The City of
Liverpool - my home club. Over the past few years, the team has come second and third many times, so we were beginning to wonder whether we would ever actually win the overall title of 'The senior British Team Champions.'
We had an ever-changing team due to injury but eventually made it to the event with a team of six. We started on bars, which is my best event usually, but this time I fell!
However the rest of the competition went well for us. This event was also the first Commonwealth trial, and with a fall I came second and Liverpool won the overall title for the first time ever.
The following weekend was the second trial for the Commonwealth Games, which was held at my gym. I started on vault with a clean handspring pike front with a half turn. This set me off for one of my best ever competitions reaching an overall score of 36.1 - my personal best score ever. So two down one to go.
This last trial will happen on the 8 June at the English Championships in
Stoke-on-Trent. The top three from all the trials will be automatically selected for the Games, the other two places are wild cards and will be selected by the coaches.
So if you come back next week I'll tell you how it went and who'll be coming to Manchester to try a win a gold medal for England!
