Badminton tournaments conclude today

The men's singles, for the second Commonwealth Games in a row, is an all-Malaysian affair, between the number 2 and 3 seeds Lee Tsueng Seng and Hashim Muhammad.

The pair have not met in international competition before but the players have met in the Malaysian club league where the 23-year-old Lee holds a two played, two wins advantage over 19-year-old Hashim.

The women's singles will be contested by the world number 43 Li Li of Singapore and England favourite Tracey Hallam.

Hallam, the world number 20, beat Li in the Thailand Open in 2001, but both players look to be on top form.

The men's doubles is another all-Malaysian contest between Chew Choon Eng and Chan Chong Ming and Choong Tan Fook and Chang Kim Wai.

Chew and Chan are the world number 3 pair, while Choong and Chang sit further down the world rankings because they are a new partnership.

New Zealand's Sara Runesten-Petersen and Nicole Gordon will make history when they step onto court on Sunday to play Lim Pek Siah and Ang Li Peng, becoming the first Kiwis to win either a silver or a gold Commonwealth badminton medal.

Sydney Olympic bronze medallist and reigning Commonwealth champions Simon Archer and Joanne Goode of England play Chew and Chin Eei Hui of Malaysia in the mixed doubles final.

Chew and Chin, the No 8 seeds, will be aiming to beat their third English pair in the competition having already beaten top-seeds Nathan Robertson and Gail Emms and the number 5 seeds Anthony Clark and Sara Sankey en-route to the final.
