In a tough and energetic game of world class rugby Scotland made the most of all their opportunities for a comfortable victory of 40 to 26.

A jubilant Mark Lee the Scottish captain said on winning: “To win any international game is just tremendous. We were a wee bit disappointed when we lost to Canada. This has given us a bit more credibility. We’ve put a lot of hard work in over the year and hopefully this has paid off a bit.

“Today and the end of yesterday we started to play more open rugby which is our style, so we’re pretty pleased with that performance out there. The crowd’s amazing, we had a lot of Scottish support, it was a bit like Murrayfield.”

Charles Jonathan Koloi of Tonga

“It was brilliant; we didn’t have a good game but we really enjoyed it. The Commonwealth Games are only every four years so this is my best opportunity to join in as part of the experience. Everything has been fantastic, the stadium, the crowds, even the athletes’ village where we’re staying.”
