Butterfly champion Huegill through to final

Australiaís world champion Geoff Huegill qualified for the menís 50m butterfly final in style Ė setting a new Games record.

Huegill (23.62), who was fastest in qualifying, was fastest again in the semis and will start as a firm favourite to take the gold medal on Thursday night.

Roland Schoeman was second behind Huegill in the second semi final and the second fastest overall with 23.99.

It was an Australia one-two in the other semi with Adam Pine (24.11) and Brett Hawke (24.45) finishing ahead of Cameron Black who qualified with a new Scottish record of 24.62.

Englandís Mark Foster, who won the silver medal for 50m freestyle, will have to do better to get a medal in the final. He qualified in seventh position with a time of 24.55.
