Rachel Coffee makes it to the final

The finalists of the women’s 100m butterfly have been decided and it was no great surprise that Petria Thomas, who knocked nearly a second off her existing Commonwealth record earlier in the day, breezed through and must now be one of the hot favourites for gold.

Thomas went in the second race while another Australian who had performed well in the heats – Rachel Coffee - went in the first, qualifying comfortably in third position.

Other notable performances were from Canada’s Jennifer Button and Audrey Lacroix who finished second in either heat.

Semi-final 1 qualifiers:

1: Mandy Loots (RSA)
2: Audrey Lacroix (CAN)
3: Rachel Coffee (AUS)
4: Mandy Leach (ZIM)

Semi-final 2 qualifiers:

1: Petria Thomas (AUS)
2: Jennifer Button (CAN)
3: Georgie Lee (ENG)
4: Joscelin Yeo (SIN)
