New Zealand veteran joins athletics team

Hammer thrower Phil Jensen is heading to Manchester after claiming a spot in the New Zealand Commonwealth Games team.

At a meeting in Auckland Jensen produced two throws of 68.61m and 68.53m which both surpassed the qualifying mark of 68.50m needed to gain a place in the New Zealand team.

Jensen represented New Zealand at two Commonwealth Games in Auckland 1990 and Kuala Lumpur 1998 where he finished 5th and 6th.
