Tatiana Grigorieva: Ranked number one in the pole vault

Grigorieva, who is an Olympic silver medallist claims the top spot with a seasonal best of 4.46m which is only one centimetre more than fellow Australian, Kym Howe.

Making it a trio of Australians is Brigid Isworth, who has been ranked fifth with a best of 4.30m

Challenging the Australian girls will be England's Janine Whitlock who has been ranked third in the pole vault event. Janine broke her UK record at the Aqua-Pura Commonwealth Trials in Manchester last month with a clearance of 4.41m.

She is sure to have the home crowd urging her on to win gold in what looks to be a very closely contested event.

The women's pole vault final is on 29 July in the new state-of-the-art City of Manchester Stadium.
