Robert Weir

Bob Weir: "I'm not going to make any predictions."

Olympic bronze medallist Frantz Kruger of South Africa completed discus qualifying over six metres ahead of his rivals with a score of 66.25 metres at the City of Manchester Stadium.

His nearest rival was Canada's Jason Tunks (59.87), a bronze medallist at the last Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur.

England's Glen Smith made third place (59.30) with his compatriot Bob Weir fourth (59.14).

After the session Weir commented: ďAll I wanted to do was get the qualifying out of the way. Now I can look forward to the final. Iím not going to make any predictions. You never know what might happen. Iím just going to compete as hard as I can.Ē
