Wheeler jumps into heptathlon lead

27 July 2002

Kylie Wheeler leads fellow Australian Jane Jamieson after four events.

Wheeler’s performance in the long jump takes her to 4488 points ahead of fellow Australian Jane Jamieson (4423) who led the event at close of play yesterday.

Kelly Sotherton (4392) leads the English contingent in the bronze medal position, with Kerry Jury, the English number two languishing towards the back of the field.

Ghanaian, Margaret Simpson is poised to capitalise on any slip-ups from the competition leaders, and currently lies in fourth place.
