Edwards, who is a four-time Olympian, already has two silvers in the triple jump from the 1990 and 1994 Games.

The veteran triple-jumper has competed at no less than five World Championships, winning medals in every one (including two golds in 1995 and 2001).

He is the current world record holder with 18.29m set at the 1995 World Championships.

He will be competing against Steven Shalders of Wales who broke the Welsh triple jump record twice this season and won the 2002 English Commonwealth trials.
