Robert Blair (ENG) won his first England international cap in the mixed doubles with Donna Kellogg (ENG) after choosing to represent England instead of Scotland in a move similar to that of squash player Peter Nicol (ENG).

Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, watched 27 minutes of the morning’s play and spoke to Olympic bronze medallist Simon Archer (ENG) and Kuala Lumpur gold medallist Kelly Morgan (WAL).

In one of the quickest matches of the session Morgan, had earlier taken little over seven minutes to beat Theresa Tetteh (GHA) as the Welsh team conceded just five points in a 5-0 win over Ghana.

New Zealand beat Mauritius 5-0, Northern Ireland beat the Seychelles 4-1 and Jersey won the battle of the Channel Islands beating Guernsey 4-1
