Singapore, attempting success in a mixed Commonwealth Games team competition for the first time, now face England in the final on Tuesday at 19:00.

New Zealand started brightly - Daniel Shirley and Sara Runestein-Petersen beat Patrick Lau and Jiang Yanmei comfortably in the mixed doubles to give the Kiwis a 1-0 lead.

Indonesian-born Ronald Susilo then levelled the tie, although, he was made to work hard by Geoff Bellingham in a four-set match lasting 43 minutes.

Li Li, world no 43, then edged Singapore 2-1 ahead thrashing New Zealandís no 1 Rebecca Gordon, who is on her way back from injury after recovering from a fractured rib, for the loss of just four points in 20 minutes.

Susilo returned to court for the menís doubles in partnership with Patrick Lau and the pair attacked from the start exposing Shirley and John Gordon in defence, winning 7-2, 1-7, 7-3, 7-5.
