Palmer-Komar to join Canadian cycle team
The Canadian Cycling Association has announced that Sue Palmer-Komar is to join the womenís road team.
The 35 year old will replace Genevieve Jeanson who had to withdraw from competition due to an injury.
This will be Palmer-Komarís second Commonwealth Games as she also participated in the Victoria Games in 1994.
CCA, executive director, Pierre Hutsebaut said "We are extremely pleased that Sue was available for this event. She has proven on numerous occasions that she can compete with the best in the world. Most recently at the 2002 Hewlett-Packard Womenís Challenge in Boise, USA, she finished 8th overall and at the 2001 World Road Championships in Lisbon, Portugal, she placed 10th overall in the road race."
"She will be an excellent addition to the team."
Palmer-Komar will compete in the womenís road time trial on 27 July and in the womenís road race on 3 August.
Road events at the Games are free therefore you do not need a ticket to come and be a spectator.
