Singh who finished with a final score of 97.5 and a qualification of 1154 said: “I was confident coming here. My coaches expected me to do well and I performed accordingly. It was tough today – I’d seen these shooters in other parts of the world and I knew it was going to be hard.”

Timothy Lowndes of Australia who won gold, silver and bronze at the 1998 Commonwealth Games, took the silver medal with a final score of 95.2 and a qualification of 1156.

Lowndes who has also won a gold and bronze in these Games said: “I almost had him, but unfortunately at the start I had a few mistakes and that put me behind a fair way. But I guess silver is silver in anyone’s books – I started in gold position but I didn’t finish there. At the very start, I was just a bit nervous and just licking shots all over the shop.”

Samuel Wiedland of Australia took the bronze. Wiedland who had a final score of 96.1 and a qualification of 1152 said: “I shot reasonably well in the match, so I’m pretty pleased with that. I was just really happy to shoot some good shots.”
