The Manchester Commonwealth Games individual table tennis programme gets into full swing, beginning with the men’s singles qualifying groups at 10:00.

Top seeds including Johnny Huang (CAN), Chetan Babbor (IND), Segun Toriola (NGR) and Matt Syed (ENG) all have a first round bye.

While 54 men, including Dexter St Louis (TRI), Russell Lavale (AUS) and Nosiru Kazeem (NGR), will take to the tables hoping to qualify for the next round.

Medal contenders Li Jia Wei (SIN), Geng Lijuan (CAN), Chunli Li (NZL) and JING Jun Hong (SIN) will also have a rest day, while 46 women qualifiers, including Claire Bentley (SCO), Beh Lee Fong (MAS) and Georgina Walker (ENG) will begin their singles campaign.

Meanwhile in a first for the Commonwealth Games, medals won by elite athletes with a disability (EAD) will count towards their country’s overall medal tally. The EAD event at the table tennis is the women’s wheelchair.

Round one of this event begins at 16:00 with Sydney 2000 Paralympics bronze medallist Cathy Mitton (ENG) and former Paralympic shooter turned table tennis player Rosabelle Riese (RSA).
