Table tennis stars progress

Following a full day of singles qualification, just under a hundred players were left standing, earning their places in the menís round of 64 and the womenís round of 32.

Surprise in the Womenís Singles, with all three English qualifiers - Georgina Walker, Katy Parker and Kate Steward - bundled out.

Beh Lee Fong (MAS), Michelle McGreevy (NIR), Lay Jian Fang (AUS), Ghazala Rohi (PAK), Nandita Saha (IND), NG Sock Khim (MAS), Poulomi Ghatak (IND), Marie-Christine Roussy (CAN), Cecilia Otu Offiong (NGR), Mantu Ghosh (IND), Chiu Soo Jiin (MAS), and Naomi Owen (WAL) all won their group stage and will progress to meet seeded players in the round of 32. Group I will be decided on a count-back.

In the menís, Patrick Sahajasein (MRI), Asim Qureshi (PAK), Reeza Burke (TRI), Hubert Sylvain Noah Essomba (CMR), Daryl Strong (NIR), Dexter St Louis (TRI), Russell Lavale (AUS), Sourav Chakraborty (IND), Andrew Dennison (NIR), Suraju Saka (NGR), John Tawadrous (AUS), Andreas Tziambos (CYP), and Nosiru Kazeem (NGR) finished top of their group and face top seeds in the round of 64.

Meanwhile Sue Gilroy (ENG) won both her matches in the womenís wheelchair and goes into the next round of matches as the gold medal favourite.
