Chanu takes three weightlifting golds for India

Sellout crowds at Manchester's International Convention Centre see a weightlifting spectacle.
Sanamacha Chanu continued India’s considerable influence on the weightlifting competition with three gold medals in the women’s 53kg category.
Australians Natasha Barker and Seen Lee took two silvers and two bronze medals while Kirstie Law, holder of all the Scottish records, fought hard for a medal.
Chanu began in the snatch category with a maximum of 82.5kg while Barker came in with 77.5kg and Lee at 75kg.
In the clean & jerk, Law lifted 82.5kg but Lee went ahead of her with 87.5kg. Barker lifted 97.5kg at her third attempt but Chanu not only made that mark at her second attempt but lifted 100kg with her final contribution.
In the overall category, Chanu, who was sixth at the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000, won the gold with 182.5kg while Barker took the silver with 175kg and Lee the bronze on 162.5kg.
