Manchester city centre is also involved directly in Games action as both the marathon and triathlon courses make their way through the city’s streets. A main centre of attention on 28 July is sure to be Albert Square with its grand town hall as the marathon begins there and passes by once more as it wends its way towards the City of Manchester Stadium. The triathletes’ cycle course also takes in Albert Square on 4 August. Both the marathon and triathlon are free spectator events.
The city centre will also, of course, be buzzing with live entertainment throughout the Games so make the most of your time in Manchester’s fantastic city centre.
