Sheppard in command of 50m freestyle

Jodie Henry cruised to victory in the first semi-final of the women’s 50m freestyle finishing in a time of 25.47 ahead of New Zealander Toni Jeffs.

Heat 2 saw Alison Sheppard, who sensationally smashed the Commonwealth record earlier in the day win easily coming in .7 of a second faster than Henry and just outside her new record and will surely now be favourite in the final.

The final will take place tomorrow.
