Price sets new 100m backstroke record

The women’s 100m backstroke semi-finals are over and done with and the eight qualifiers are confirmed.

Sarah Price was delighted with a new Games record

First to qualify was Dyana Calub of Australia who was followed through Heat 1 by England’s Jo Fargus, Clementine Stoney (AUS) and Charlene Wittstock (RSA).

The second heat saw England’s Sarah Price set a new Games record with a time of 1:01.14, finishing ahead of Australia’s Giaan Rooney, Hannah McClean (NZL) and yesterday’s gold medallist Kirsty Coventry.

2: Jo Fargus (ENG) – 1:02.86
3: Clementine Stoney (AUS) – 1:02.93
4: Charlene Wittstock (RSA) – 1:02.97

Heat 2:

1: Sarah Price (ENG) – 1:01.14 (GR)
2: Giaan Rooney (AUS) – 1:02.20
3: Hannah McClean (NZL) – 1:02.27
