Afterwards Thomas said: Ive saved a bit extra for the finals. Ive been very tired because Ive been racing so much, but Im enjoying the whole event.

Ive got a very busy schedule. Tonight I might have to ease off to save myself for the freestyle events. I have to make sure I look after myself as best I can. I know which races I need to lift myself for, and I save myself for those.

Rachel Coffee of Australia won heat one with 1:00.61 said: I felt awesome. I was so nervous going into my first event, but now Im looking forward to the next round. Watching everyone else swim so well, you just want to be a part of it.

Georgina Lee of England who came second in the third heat behind Thomas said: It was a really good swim. I wanted to swim off a few nerves before the next round, where I want to do a strong swim.
