Price is quickest qualifier in backstroke

No surprises as main 50m backstroke contenders qualify for semis.

Sarah Price qualifies fastest for the semis

Sarah Price (29.31), who won won heat 4, was the fastest qualifier in the Manchester 2002 50m backstroke preliminaries in the pool on Friday morning.

Second fastest qualifier was Australian Dyana Calub (29.33) who won heat 3.

Australia's Giaan Rooney (29.44) led the field home in heat 2.

The semi-final heats of the women's 50m backstroke final take place this evening at the Manchester Aquatics Centre.
