Track Athletics

Many consider the track events as the most glamorous and the City of Manchester Stadium could well be the setting of many new Commonwealth and world records come the end of the Games.

The track events include sprints (100m, 200m, 400m), middle-distance running (800m and 1500m) and long-distance running (5000m, 10000m, marathon), hurdling (100m and 400m for women, 110m and 400m for men), relays (4 x 100m and 4 x 400m) and the men's 3000m steeplechase. There are also two events for Elite Athletes with a Disability (EAD), the men's 100m blind and the women's 800m wheelchair.

The standard of track athletes coming to the Games means that spectators can expect to see some of the biggest names in sport hunting for glory and medals.
