Marsh returns to Village from hospital

Matthew Marsh receives medical attention

England flyweight boxer Matthew Marsh returned to the Games Village on Sunday afternoon after being sent to Hope Hospital in Salford for observation.

Earlier in the day, Marsh had been knocked unconscious by a right hook from South Africa’s Nzimeni Msuto in the second round of his first bout at the Games.

The nineteen-year-old, who received a mandatory count of eight in the first round after being caught by another vicious right hook and received medical treatment while lying flat on his back in the ring for two minutes.

Marsh had to be helped from the ring and was immediately taken to Hope Hospital for observation.
