Women's table tennis round up


In the most exciting match of round two in the womenís team event, No 3 seeds New Zealand narrowly beat Wales 3-2.

Katy Parker had a successful game

Bethan Daunton (WAL) won a tight match against Karen Li (NZL) with an animated and attacking performance.

In a battle of youth against experience, Naomi Owen (WAL) faced veteran Li Chunli (NZL). But Chunliís pace finally overwhelmed the 14-year-old Owen.

The final match came down to Owen and Li in a four-game decider with LI finishing off 11-9.

England had a comprehensive win against Barbados winning 3-0.

Nick Deatonís (ENG) attacking play meant she had the upper hand in her games against Krystle Harvey (BAR). The final match was contested between Katy Parker (ENG) and Angela Reid (BAR). Parker stunned her opponent with the variety of her tactics and good coverage of the court.

In other matches, gold medal favourites Singapore beat Nigeria (3-0) and India beat Northern Ireland (3-0).
