As the venue for the free 20k and 50k walks as well as the testing triathlon event, what a backdrop Salford Quays will provide for both competitors and spectators alike.
An internationally recognised site of urban regeneration, the centrepiece of Salford Quays is the hugely acclaimed Lowry museum and arts centre, which simply towers over an area that also features the equally impressive and brand new Imperial War Museum North, and, away in the distance, Manchester United's Old Trafford football stadium.
Ideally situated at the edges of Manchester's city centre skyline, competitors will be able to make the most of Salford Quays' modern new sports facilities whilst the public will enjoy each element of the competition from an easily accessible public waterfront setting.
